POWER HOUR - Brain First, Behavior Second: A Brain-Informed Approach to Classroom Behavior

This session introduces a brain-informed approach to understanding neurodivergent behavior. Participants will explore how brain development influences behavior, learn to distinguish between skill-based and stress-based responses, and gain practical strategies to support regulation, connection, and engagement in early learning environments.

Learning Objectives

Participants will be able to:

  • Explain how brain development influences behavior and impacts regulation, engagement, and learning
  • Differentiate between skill-based behaviors and stress-based behaviors in young children
  • Identify practical strategies that support regulation, connection, and engagement for neurodivergent children
  • Reframe challenging behavior through a brain-informed lens to better support responsive and developmentally appropriate practice
