Strong partnerships between families and schools begin with effective communication and a shared commitment to student success. In this presentation, you'll learn how SEMS supports those partnerships by providing free, neutral services that help teams navigate difficult conversations, resolve disagreements, and build lasting collaborative relationships. We'll explore when SEMS services can be used, how they benefit special education teams, and how to access support before challenges escalate.

Learning Objectives

Participants will have the opportunity to

•  Describe the free services offered by Special Education Mediation Services (SEMS) and when they can be used.
•  Recognize how mediation, facilitation, and collaborative communication can help build trust, improve communication, and resolve disagreements in the special education process.
• Identify how and when to access SEMS services to support productive partnerships between families and schools.

You may request training hours for up to three trainings per form.

Once this form has been submitted, please allow up to 14 days for SCECHs to be added to your MOECS account. PLEASE NOTE: This is not a MiRegistry Request Form. MiRegistry training hours are submitted automatically when a training is completed. After completion of a training, please allow 24-48 hours for your training to appear in your MiRegistry Learning Record
